Hiring a Sales Rep

Sunday August 31, 2008
Sales representatives can be a good way to get your crafts into the wholesale market. But watch out! Make sure that you have references when deciding upon a rep. Also make sure that you have a contract that clearly states how many samples you give the representative and when you can get them back. It also doesn't hurt to have a clause that states the condition of your products that you give the rep and that they are in the same shape when they are returned to you.

Selling Other than Shows

Sunday August 31, 2008
Where else can you sell crafts other than at craft shows? Web sites are one great venue for selling crafts. Also consignment shops are another spot that many crafters do well at. And don't forget about home shows. Selling at home parties can be a fun and profitable way to market your crafts.

Is there a market for your craft?

Sunday August 31, 2008
If you are considering selling crafts, you should first do a little market research. Ask family and friends (who will give you an honest opinion) if they think that your craft will sell. You may also want to try a couple of small inexpensive shows to test the waters before investing a lot of time and money into your venture.

Staying Local

Sunday August 24, 2008
High gas prices can make smaller shows close to home worth looking into. If you travel halfway across the country to attend a big event, you may do better to stay at home and attend a few smaller venues. But keep in mind that if you have a really successful show out-of-town it may very well be worth the added fuel costs to attend the show.
