Including Sales Tax In Retail Pricing

Sunday October 1, 2006
Pay your taxes, pay your taxes, pay your taxes! Did I make myself clear on this point? OK. So you are paying your taxes. But should you include the sales tax in retail tags or add it on while making the sale? Different state agencies require different methods of showing your collected sales tax. The easiest method of accounting your sales tax would be to program it into your register and collect it into the total ticket. Then you can run a summary after the event and show what you have collected. People expect to pay sales tax, so simply add it on at the point of sale, then report and pay it when it is due!
