Consignment For Beginners

Sunday October 29, 2006
If you are considering selling your crafts via consignment stores, this is a good time of year to get started. High-traffic consignment stores really start to pick up sales during the holiday season! Be sure that you stock your space at your consignment locations with plenty of inventory. Just like at shows, empty shelves do not sell crafts. Make sure you also visit your space periodically, if possible, to assure that the owners have properly displayed your crafts.

How do you find supplies like jewelry boxes, displaay fixtures? We have some consignment shops around here. Should I just browse and see if hey sell jewelryand should I take a sample of my work to show them even if they do not have any on display? What is the procedure on setting a percentage or price on sonsigned items. Thank You

Uline & nashville wraps have a nice assortment of boxes.. you can also try dollardays.com for displays & boxes. Usually you discuss with store what they usually take as a precent. Around here it is 1/3. So price your items accordingly so you can still make a profit. Also, be sure to label the heck out of your things with your biz name, ph #, & website - that way they can come directly to you in the future.. good luck
