Sites Or Shows

Sunday December 10, 2006
I'm curious how Web site sales are doing for you this time of the year. Traditionally the holidays are the best time for sales at most events. So hopefully your shows are doing well right now! But what about your Web sites? Each year, statistics show that online sales are higher and higher. What about with crafters? Are your online sales comparable to real-world shows? What have you learned that seems to help boost Web site sales during the holidays?

I think I have noticed a slowdown in ebay sales since mid November as the craft buyer is finding an abundant amount of shows in their area where they can check out the variety and buy without having to pay shipping costs. Show sales were up quite alot for me this season but ebay sales have tapered off some. All in all this year profits were up in the end.

Sales on my relatively new web site are non-existant. I keep asking and looking for what I did wrong. Show sales were much better. I ready everything you send me. Any additional suggestions? Thx

I sold a good amount through ebay for Christmas. Not as much as I would expect, but still more than the rest of the year. I do custom work, though, that they would not usually find at a craft show.

Fall shows were 35% up in sales for us.
Website sales for the year account for
only 2% of yearly sales, basically paying for the website, in spite of handing out hundreds of cards and other
promotion for the website.
