Shows Or Sites?

Sunday March 18, 2007
If you are just getting started selling your crafts online, there are comparisons you should make between craft shows and Web sites. For instance, since people tend to like to pick up crafts to look at all sides of the products, you may want to consider using pictures of the front and back of your work for people to see when shopping online. And of course, you should ALWAYS use very high quality images online. At shows, the big selling point is the quality of your work. The best way to replicate this online is to use great pictures.

Good point, and as usual, your site is the only site addressing relevant issues for the crafts business. Not only are pictures important in online selling, but you reminded me that descriptions are also very important. I have been selling online for about 14 months, and have a lot to learn. Since one of my products really does not translate to online sales, more narrative is essential. But I really need to know more about pricing online; I can work it out when selling in person, but online is a whole new thing and pricing is hard to gauge.
