Sale Or No Sale
Sunday March 25, 2007
When is a good time to have a sale? Discounts on your products can be a good way to increase sales. But a sale at the wrong time can hurt profits! I am a firm believer that you should not mark down your crafts at high-end shows. However, if you have some leftover inventory that needs to be cleared out for fresh creations, try selling them at a discount at a street festival or flea market. Do you use discounts? And if so, when?

I always mark down all my seasonal merchandise on the last day of a show if the holiday will be over before I do another show. My customers know I do this and look forward to it every year.
I know it upsets some other crafters but I strive to have all new merchandise the next year which increases my sales tremendously. Crafters who keep bringing back the same items every year don’t seem to understand why their sales are falling.
If it didn’t sell the first year, mark it down and get rid of it.
