Photography Tips

When sending in slides and photos for a craft show jury, high quality images are very important. In the "old days", we would
hire a professional to take our photos and have duplicates made for each event. Now, with so many crafters making their own Web sites, this is no longer a feasible option. If you are carrying a continually changing product line on your site, it
could get very expensive hiring someone to take each picture. My recommendation is to buy a mid-priced digital camera for
taking pictures of your crafts. I like to take several shots at a time from slightly different perspectives. After all, if
you take 20 pictures of the same item, one is bound to turn up just right! And since you are not wasting any film, you can
just delete any extra shots that you don't use.

Too, many events, like mine, are going to digital submissions for new applicants. My festival has digital as a requirement next year - while this year it was an option. This way, we can save many photos on a CD and save space. But it does mean that photos have to be better. I suggest to my applicants that they put only ONE item ina picture so my jury can actually see what the quality of the item really is like.
