What's the Wal-Mart Mentality

Sunday July 15, 2007
The "Wal-Mart Mentality" is the conscience (and sometime unconscious) decision that shoppers make that will almost always choose lower price over higher quality. If you are attending very many festivals or shows inside of malls for instance, you will see more of this mindset. One of the best ways to overcome this phenomenon is to attend shows that match your quality of work. High end craft show shoppers tend to realize the quality of your work is worth the asking price. Street festivals may work well for some products, but many crafters will find the Wal-Mart Mentality to be so predominant at these events that they are not worth attending.
