Displaying Prices

Sunday September 23, 2007
Should crafters display prices at shows or wait until people inquire about the cost? At almost every venue with the possible exception of very high-end art shows, you should ALWAYS display your pricing prominently. Believe it or not, many would-be customers will not ask for information about your crafts and will simply browse your booth and leave even if they are very interested in your products. If you display the prices where people can see them, you will acquire more paying customers at shows.

I agree. When I see a fellow artist’s booth which has no prices, I always think they’re either being pretentious or purposely avoiding the topic of how much their work costs. Neither is good for business, in my opinion.

I am one of those who will walk away if I cannot find a price. I also hate to see those bright yard sale type stickers I know it’s wrong but I feel as though the product is used and not worthy of craft fair prices.
