Local Craft Shows
Sunday December 2, 2007
One of the least expensive ways to market your crafts is to stay close to home with several low-cost craft shows. While these
type of events do not typically draw thousands of dollars in revenue, the low-cost factor can still help you bring in a nice
little profit. Since fuel costs are so high these days you can really cut costs by cutting down travel time. And don't forget
that if you are doing local events, you will not have lodging expenses and can also save on food by bringing things from
home.

I absolutely agree. It almost boils down to a question of how much you can save or as Ben Franklin once said, “A Penney saved is a penney earned.” Your profit on the smaller shows can actually be higher many times. Also, you have to consider the travel time. Many times we don’t factor this in and find we are spending hours in transit and not compensating ourselves for it.
No matter how near or far you go….there’s no guarantees that you’re going to get every customer…..as the old addage goes….They see something the first time….the 2nd time they think about it and the 3rd time they buy it…..
I personally tend to stay local because (a) we use 2 cars to haul our wares (b) husbands health is precarious.
By the way I hand-craft fabric back glass plates, platters, coasters here in So. Ca…..check out our website….www.plattergees.com
Happy New Year to all!
We go to only one show that is a good distance away from our home - and the only reason we go to that one is because I share space with my brother.
All the rest of the time, we stay relatively close to home. There are two shows where we take our travel trailer for the overnight stay. That being said, camping fees are less than $20 per night and we eat at “home”.
Local? You bet. Folks have gotten to know us. Order our wares over the phone and drop by to pick them up. Couldn’t be sweeter.
At the cost of being politically incorrect - Merry Christmas and a most properous New year.
We live near Minneapolis, MN, we normaly go to the largest shows. But, now that, we are nearing Christmas season , we plan to show our art locally.
