Preventing Theft At Shows

Sunday December 16, 2007
The downfall to those busy, busy shows is that in those large crowds of people there are thieves who want to steal from hardworking crafters. Make sure you keep a close eye on your register, cash box, purse or anywhere that you keep money in your booth. Verify credit card and check purchases by checking driver’s licenses. And if you have to leave your booth while the show is open, find someone to "booth sit" for you.

i had a painting stolen right off the walls of my booth at a large outdoor art show, and I had never left my booth!

Be especially watchful at the day winds down. You are less alert and the thieves know it! If they carry a large purse or bag, I watch extra close.
