Where Do You Make the Most Money?
Sunday February 24, 2008
I think most crafters still make the majority of their income from shows. However many are beginning to create a substantial
income from other sources like sites, consignment and even sales reps. Where do you create most of your crafting income?
Shows, sites or another venue?

Hi!
Most of my income used to come from selling at a local swap meet but it was way too much work! Setting up, tearing down, watching out for thieves, finding change, bad weather, etc.
Now I make all my income online and once you get established, it is sooooo much easier! Just fill the order and box it up and ship it out. DONE!
Online is the way to go but it takes work also. Nothing worthwhile is free.
Thanks, Sheri

I would say quick income is made at an Art Show for me but most of it is made at my shop and it is a lot less stress. I do sell a little on my website but most are from return customers. A rep has crossed my mind but with a husband, 3 boys and running a bead store I think I am busy enough.
I think the best way to sell is if YOU the ARTIST is selling it. No one has the passion for your Art like you do!
I agree with Sheri…..I’m fairly new at selling my soaps but Shows are very labor intensive, not to mention the cost of gas to get there! I also do Consignment and was offered a job at the shop that carries my products - win/win….and I am actually in the process of building my website. And yes, Sheri, worthwhile is not necessarily free but the process/experience is priceless!
I use to do a lot of shows and love the interaction with the customer but age and the hassle of the setup and teardown has got to me. I have a website now, which is pretty new and have started selling on there now. It also is hard work but I am confident it will pay off in the long run.
