How Safe Are Checks?

Any time you accept checks for payments, you will run the chance of losing money. And unfortunately, people who intentionally write bad checks know that craft shows are easy targets. When you take a check from out of state, you must go back to that jurisdiction to collect. This can make it extremely difficult to follow up on dead-beats and thieves. However, after attending shows for 15 years, we had only accepted a small handful of bad checks. For the most part, people are honest and you will definitely lose more business by not taking checks at all.
