Stitch Up a Press Kit!
I don't often buy Selvedge magazine because it's so expensive to purchase in the USA - $30. I mean, that's kind of a book purchase price - right? If you subscribe online the 6 issue price appears to the half off. That's a not a bad deal for a magazine of this caliber. I just might subscribe.
However, the May/June 2009 issue had a lot of great information so I coughed up the cash at the bookstore. I particularly enjoyed the instructions on 'How to Bind a Book – Making a Simple Stitched Notebook'. This type of presentation may be just what you were looking for as an alternative to the normal type of press kit or brochure for your arts/crafts business.
Taking the basic design there are numerous ways you can tailor it to your type of business. For example, a metalsmith could make a clever wire closure system. A quilter could attach a mini quilt square to the front.
The good news is the book binding instructions are downloadable on the Selvedge website and they are incredibly easy. The link will take you to the page with all their downloadable instructions, in case you want to view all of them. Check it out and see what you think.
