I've been more stressed out than usual lately. Though I no longer do tax returns, there is just enough hours in the days to get all the new projects that have been backburned since last fall up and running. Plus, I have sandwich generation issues that thankfully are improving on one side.
Last night, I just gave up trying to sleep and worked through the night. While winding down to start the tasks for the new day, I ran across this AOL article about managing stress. Some of the 8 tips seem like they'll be quite helpful.
Also, if you've never read it, I recommend The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. While it's mostly about recognizing threats of violence, the book is full of excellent info about managing anxiety. I bought the book when it first came out on my way to a Rangers game and coudn't put it down during the game. Subsequently, gave it to Goodwill and just recently repurchased it for my Kindle - that's how good it is.
