Home Shows

Sunday September 17, 2006
Selling at open houses or "home shows" is becoming quite popular in some areas. The best way to become successful at these types of venues are by selling seasonal or themed items. For instance, a Christmas or Halloween themed party will usually draw more visitors and sales that a generic free for all with a little bit of everything. But, that doesn't mean you can't include other items as well. Just remember to keep the most part of your home event focused in advertising and then in the displays.

This is a very good idea. I might even use it myself with my knitting and crochetting projects that I want to sell.

I like this idea as an alternative of craft shows. Where can I find out more about this (ways to advertise, displays, ect? I sell design and sell candy wrappers, diaper cakes ect.

Thanks for the advice. A lot of the jewelry makers in my area do home parties in addition to the craft shows. I’m starting to sell greeting cards, pre-made scrapbook pages and other paper crafts and have thought about this option. I’ve been to some of these independent parties and it seems that the real successful people structure it like any other home party (pampered chef, southern living, etc.) and offer a hostess discount for party bookings, the chance for someone to win a little prize, etc. I’d love to hear from someone who has had success with this!
