Theft And Fraud At Shows
Sunday October 29, 2006
Be careful at all those busy shows during the holidays! When there are lots and lots of customers in your booth, you are more open to theft than at slow events. Make sure you keep your cash register and/or cash box out of reach from someone who may be scoping your booth out. It's also not a bad idea to travel to your hotel with someone else after the show is over to make sure you are not carrying a large amount of cash alone. Do you have any safety tips you would like to share?

I just purchased a train case that has 4 expandable drawers in it and a hollow center. Each drawer I will keep a minimal qty of either $1, $ 5, $10 and maybe $20 in them and leave the coins, checks and larger bills to the hollow center of the case. This case is metal, durable, has a lock/key and secure handle. On the handle of the case I will a loop a cable lock around to the leg of my craft table and place underneath a well watched chair. I found the metal train case for $18 and Wal-mart. It was cheaper than a cash box. Hope this helps.
