Art Or Craft?

To successfully market your handmade products at shows, you must first decide into which classification your product falls. Things that are unique and considered one-of-a-kind would likely fall into the "art" category. things that can be recreated by someone else with a little training can probably be classified as a "craft". Once you decide what it is you are selling, you can easily decide which shows are right for your products. Picking your events carefully can be the deciding factor on if you have a great year of shows or a lousy one...

I carve figures from small chunks of diamond willow branches it is an art and I can relate to your topic. If I spend $150 to set a table in the mall for a weekend I hardly break even. But if I go down to the Art Gallery down town people have came to me and offer $100 for similar figures that have sold for $10 or less at the mall. It all has to do with location, “Crafts” seem like they are cheap. But “Art” makes you think of spendy.
I no longer waist 2 days a month sitting in the mall I use those two days to search for more diamond willow.
