Getting Started Selling Crafts
Sunday March 16, 2008
If you are considering selling crafts professionally, here are some preliminary ideas to go over before you start. First make
sure there is a market for your craft. Ask friends and family for their honest opinion of whether people would buy your
craft or not. Make sure you start off small and on a cash basis. If you borrow thousands of dollars and you venture fails,
you will be better off if you did not lose borrowed money.

I make things out of plastic canvas & yarn and I sell my crafts from $5.00 to $30.00. It also depends on how big the item is or like for coasters, how many per box. The calendars, kleexes box covers, & bathroom tissue covers are all $15.00 each or $45.00 a set. I don’t know how to add the time it takes to make each one. For the calendar & kleenexes box covers it takes at least 2-3 weeks to do. I also don’t know if I should add tax to the price or not. I haven’t before. I enjoy all of the business info. that you send me. I was wondering if you could send me some info. about these topics! Booth Fees, How much is too much?; calcutaing prices; tax chores; pricing crafts; Where to go to get a lisence for bulk order of supplies?; Discounts & sales on retail crafts; finding good supplies- ’cause all my supply is yarn. How to price crochet work? How to do a craft business online? Getting to craft shows is hard for me to do ’cause I can’t drive & no one will take me to a craft show so I can sell my crafts that I do have that I would like to sell and have some money for myself. The internet is the only way that I can sell my crafts & I don’t even understand it sometimes! It will help me if you can send me some info. on the internet & how to sell my crafts! I know that I need to take pictures of my crafts & put them up on the internet but hoe do I do that when I don’t have a scanner to do it with? Please email me the info. at elaine1_12003@yahoo.com & again thank you for all of the inforafmtion that you do send to me!!

I tried to answer some of your questions but the message bounced back. Is the e-mail address you posted above the correct one? Dave Fowler
