Meet Our Chat Hosts!

Dateline: 04/09/98

The Chat Host Program has been discontinued. Our thanks goes out to the volunteers for all their help!!!!

I'm very happy to introduce our Chat Hosts. These folks are very enthusiastic about meeting you, the working craftsperson. Thanks to our new hosts, we now have a new chat schedule. I expect this program to be a great way for our community to meet in our chat room. Just check out the schedule to see when one or more of our hosts will be in the chat room. Then come on in and get to know everyone!

As an introduction to the hosts, I've asked our volunteers to say a little about themselves...

Joseph...

Joseph is the owner of Creative Woodworks of Maine.

"I will be using the nickname of "miniclocks". There really isn't much to tell about myself. I am a Viet-Nam veteran, married and have 5 children. I have lived in Sanford Maine for 8 years. I have been doing woodworking for 6 years now and enjoy it very much."

Judy...

"My nickname is "misty" (in memory of my Sheltie who was dog-knapped). I'm mom to five (5) wonderful children ranging in age from 17 years down to 6 years (3 boys, 2 girls) and a fabulous husband who is also my closest friend. I've always been very proud of my family, but it has taken the past several years of illness to slow me down enough to begin to really enjoy my life with them.

From 89-93 I operated a part-time Photo-album/picture frame custom design business selling my creations locally (Ottawa Canada) and internationally (Holland, Virginia, California, Washington DC and New York. My most prominent commissioned piece was an album for a U.S diplomat on his departure from his Canadian posting in 93.

I'm currently attempting to get ready for Christmas '98 (I've always enjoyed selling through craft shows.) I am hoping to get a nice collection of tatted Christmas ornaments and Temari balls (Japanese thread balls) ready. Just learning these crafts, thus my need to begin so early!

Also do knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, bead work etc. I also enjoy helping friends with their craft businesses and enjoy creating things with my computer as well.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1993 and it was recently determined that I am unable to be "gainfully" employed, meaning I can't provide an employer with at least 4 hours of work every day of every week...so, in His mysterious way, God has granted me the ability to now do what I enjoy doing at my pace...one of my favourite things is helping others ... I'm very honored to be given the opportunity to be one of the hosts for the Arts and Crafts chat forum with the Mining Co. I look forward to the experience."

Julie...

"My chat nick is "SW" which stands for Stitch Witch. My crafts include, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, and quilting. I have been knitting and crocheting for around 13 years, and the other crafts for about 5 years. My favourite is crochet. I have been designing my own crochet patterns for about 1 year."
