Saving with Holiday Discounts

Return to Main Article: Craft Supplies

Post-holiday sales are a great time to buy display items and even craft supplies at a substantial discount! By taking advantage of these sales, you can continually refresh your booth, consignment space, home-party decor and shop displays for next to nothing.

Where to Go
Discount "mega" stores usually present a wide selection with substantial savings. But don't forget smaller shops which sometimes carry unique items along with great savings. Remember that most business owners do not want to carry over-stocked products, so almost any place that carries holiday-related merchandise will likely be a great place to shop for post-holiday savings.

When to Go
Typically the best time to go is the day after the holiday, when inventories are high and selections are wide. However, as time goes on, remaining items will be marked down even more, though inventories and selection will grow much smaller.

Don't forget returned gift items! Starting the day after the holiday, up to weeks after, people will be returning gift items; many of these returns will be placed on sale. Be sure to check clearance sections often to find even more great values.

What to Buy
Determine during which holidays you sell the most products and shop for any needed display materials accordingly. The post-Christmas, season for example, offers huge discounts on all sorts of items ranging from decorations, trees and wrapping paper, to a wide assortment of returned gift items.

Do you use holiday themed supplies? If so, you can find things like ribbon, material and other supplies during post-holiday sales. If you are purchasing supplies for resale, remember to bring your retail tax i.d. for tax-free purchases at many retailers!

Though holiday themed decorations are the most obvious things to buy, many businesses take advantage of post-holiday crowds to clear other over-stocked products from inventory. Savvy shoppers can find tons of inexpensive treasures during these sales!
