I haven't had the time to do anything with my Etsy shop in quite some time so I'm looking for some feedback from other artists and crafters regarding an email I received a couple of days ago. The topic is whether Etsy has lowered the bar on what is considered to be handcrafted.
The crafter states that while they feel Etsy is a great site, they are providing a source for places like Taiwan and Thailand to sell their items for far less than artists and crafters can afford to them sell in the US. Specifically, the crafter is doubting that some products can be handcrafted due to the volume of items the shop produces (and factoring in the shop's cheap prices).
So Etsy.com shop owners - chime in!
Do you feel you have unfavor competition due to the lack of handcrafting from other Etsy vendors?
If you don't have an Etsy.com shop, but are thinking about opening one - these user answers should be of great interest to you. I'm looking forward to see the feedback myself!
