David Yurman is a popular contemporary jewelry artist who got his start in the industry after a short artist career as sculptor. After positive reaction to an angel shaped copper belt buckle that he designed for his wife, Sybil, he created and sold additional belt buckle designs and started experimenting with wire and eventually crafted his signature design - that of a twisted cable.
The twisted cable design is similar to that of the ancient Celtic torc (also referred to as torque) which is a twisted wire neck ring that ends in terminating caps. Yurman's caps are usually set with semi-precious gemstones. This signature style twisted cable design is present in just about all Yurman pieces.
